BBC Sounds – a treasure trove of short stories

There is something rather joyful about listening to someone reading you a story, especially when the reader is someone as wonderfully talented as David Suchet. So it has been an absolute pleasure to immerse myself in one of my very favourite novels, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.

I have enjoyed watching David Suchet as Poirot for many years. He is an incredibly talented performer and read this story that I know so well and hold so dear brilliantly. It has been recorded in two episodes and so perfect for a listen on Christmas Eve whilst you finish the last minute preparations, or perhaps even relaxing in a favourite chair with a glass of mulled wine. It is available to listen to on BBC Sounds.

Most people know the story of A Christmas Carol, in some form or another, be it from a film adaptation, stage performance or through reading the book. It is a story that seems to get better each time I listen or read it. It gives me hope and I can’t imagine Christmas without it.

Sending you much love for the festive season. I hope that you find some joy in the days ahead and maybe even a little time to curl up with a good story – in whatever form it may take.

Happy reading!

Shelley
